Coming Soon: Festival Stories

My latest project is a collection of festival stories that take a fun and, sometimes, frightening journey into the fringe! All the stories are based on my true, lived experience. I’ve been compiling these for a few years, and I’m loving the way they’re coming together as a whole. I can’t wait to share some… Read More Coming Soon: Festival Stories

Festival Street Styles of Symbiosis Gathering

Courtney W, creator of Threaded Vibes, invited me to guest write for her blog; as a fan of her work, I eagerly agreed. Check out my guest post covering the Festival Street Styles of Symbiosis Gathering: Symbiosis Gathering came in at the end of California’s festival season right on the heels of Burning Man. Though it cannot… Read More Festival Street Styles of Symbiosis Gathering

Of Feathers and Festivals: Lucidity 2016

When a friend encouraged me to explore the manifestation process, I quickly learned the basic premise is that we can attract our desires by entering into a meditative state and then picturing and feeling that our desire has manifested in our life.  I heard a potent piece of advice: to build confidence in the process,… Read More Of Feathers and Festivals: Lucidity 2016

One year ago today we adopted Arthur! 🎉 He was scrawny, shy, and in pain back then...it’s a wonder we chose him, but Tyson saw a poor creature in need. He had been in doggie jail death row and was malnourished because his teeth were ruined. We got him just a few days after all his teeth were removed, which was funded by his rescue group @rylasrescue. Now Arthur is a light in our lives. He came to us at the perfect time. He helped us navigate the challenge of the first lockdown. And so much has changed in a year! He’s a bit fat now and his spunky spirit is in full effect. And even our cats like him (tolerate him?) after a year 💜
At the end of a two week camping trip, Arthur looks like he was always meant to be a dirty hippie dog 🤣
As the earth moves to the degree that aligns with my first breath, I am whole, having learned to tend to myself as if for the world.
“Cool green manzanita leaves and prickly pine needles shake off their snow like birds in a bath. Behind gauzy clouds, the sun moves through a sky that morphs from bright to dark almost without warning.” Read my short, lighthearted piece about hiking in the snow with Arthur on Glamsient. “I Carry Him.” Link in bio.

Reflection is a key practice I use to propel my goals and ambitions forward. I love this time of year because changing the annual number creates a clear container for reflection on the past, but adding a reflection practice regularly helps me stay more securely on track. A couple years ago, I noticed I had the same New Years goals time and again. I wondered why I wasn’t getting anywhere, so I started keeping a daily planner to keep track of my activities. At the end of each day I write what I accomplish. And each week, I look back at the planner to see where I am meeting my goals and where I need to put more energy. This has been an invaluable tool for increasing my productivity.
“Keep Tahoe Blue” originated in response to business owners pushing to build a bridge over Emerald Bay and grow a San Francisco sized population in the Tahoe Basin. It’s hard to imagine that greedy people would want to destroy this (now) National Landmark, but it happens all over this earth. We can thank environmentalists and the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency for keeping Tahoe blue and clear. We have to fight for the things we love and be a voice for the voiceless.
